Formerly Stipa arundinacea. Clumps of fine arching leaves are streaked orange-brown, accompanied in summer by feathery flower heads which resemble a Pheasant's tail. It turns to orange brown for the winter. Will self-seed, but with good manners. Likes moist, well drained soil in sun to part shade. Cool season. Evergreen.
