Charlie and Catherine amongst the perennials for sale in spring 2004. The outside wall of the walled garden is south facing, but only receives sun from spring to autumn. During winter, the sun doesn`t reach these beds, and they are cleared of plants which are placed undercover in the polytunnel. The bare-stemmed plant against the wall is Mandevilla laxa, which erupts into growth in May, producing masses of sweetly scented white blooms well into the autumn. |
