BEGONIA ACONITIFOLIA

One of several `cane Begonias` we stock, this makes a very tolerant and attractive plant for a shady corner in the house or conservatory. Begonias come in three forms, tuberous, rhizomatous and the upright, shrubby or `cane` varieties and species. The typical stem can be seen in the far left of the picture, and shows the resemblance to a bamboo cane.

The characteristically lop-sided leaves give the plant a graceful appearance. It can grow to 3 foot or more if looked after well, being happy in John Innes No. 3 with extra peat/leaf mould added.  Like it's relatives, it likes water and feed in the summer (tomato food is fine, and will encourage the plant to produce clusters of pale pink flowers) , but must not be over-watered in the winter.
