As the season develops we will have available a range of vegetable plants including Tomatoes, Chilli Peppers, Sweet Peppers and Cucumbers.

Prices are based on plants grown in 9cm pots.

Culinary herb with mild, onion-tasting leaves which are good for garnishing/ flavouring soups etc. Crops all year round although the leaves are more chewy in winter but still fine for cooking with. For sun and well drained soil, ideal for a pot.

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)

Aromatic herb, the leaves of which are used in cooking. Seeds can be used to make fennel tea. Tall perennial, needing a fair amount of space but adding a dramatic effect to a herb garden. Large umbels of yellow flowers in summer. Grow in moist, well drained soil in sun.

Mint - Garden (Mentha sachalinensis)

Culinary herb used extensively in cooking. Goes famously with Lamb & new potatoes but has many other uses. Likes moisture so keep well watered if grown in a pot, which is advisable if space is an issue as it does spread a lot.

A mint with a fresh citrus flavour. Pale mauve flowers, loved by bees, from summer to autumn. Spreads underground, like other mints. Moisture retentive soil, sun/part-shade. 45 cms (1½ feet).

Culinary herb used extensively in Mediterranean cooking. Likes a sunny spot in open soil, also good for a pot. Evergreen, perennial. If plant becomes woody, cut hard back for fresh, tender leaves.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

Evergreen shrub with pale mauve flowers in early summer and aromatic foliage which can be used in cooking. Brilliant with Lamb but also superb with Beef. Trim regularly after flowering to keep compact & bushy. Likes sun and well drained soil. Good for a Mediterranean garden.

Culinary herb, useful for soups sauces and jellies. Young leaves can be used in salads. Spreads quite rapidly so if space is an issue, consider growing in a pot with a saucer underneath. Likes moist, well drained soil in sun/ part shade.

A larger, stronger-tasting version of Chives. Can be used for flavouring salads, soups & stews etc. Great for that hot steaming baked potato! Hardy Perennial so can be harvested year-round without protection. Can be grown in a pot or in the ground. Space 25cm (10") apart if planting in rows.

Evergreen, perennial herb, particularly useful in winter when many other herbs are dormant. Quite strong flavour, can be used in dishes instead of thyme/oregano. Trim in spring to encourage new growth. Grow in a sunny well drained spot. Does well in a pot
