Formal Gardens

The following plants can be used in formal plantings, be it a large garden or a couple of pots either side of a door. For the most part they are evergreen, have interesting foliage and, probably most importantly, can be trimmed or trained to a desired shape. To give contrast to these a few perennials have been included, most have pale flowers to 'lift' what might otherwise be a dark green garden and are of a reasonably regular form. These can be planted in beds surrounded by neat hedging or, e.g. Agapanthus, in pots as focal points. Ivies and Geraniums can be used as ground cover.
