Nectar-rich plants which will attract many species of pollinating insects including Bees, Wasps and Hoverflies which are all important to a healthy ecosystem. Some plants listed here may be frost tender, in which case the minimum temperature should be given. Pollinating insects need the help of gardeners in the UK. The loss of natural, wild habitat and modern farming techniques mean that gardens are becoming increasingly important for insects. We rely on pollinating insects for much of our food production and a population collapse would be disastrous. It is important to choose plants which are rich in nectar and where possible to choose varieties with single flowers to allow for easy access to the nectar.
