INFORMATION FOR VISITORS

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

THE NURSERY WILL BE CLOSED ON:
SATURDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER &
SUNDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2007

PLEASE RING TO CHECK AVAILABILITY IF YOU ARE COMING FOR PARTICULAR PLANTS.

SOME OF OUR HARDY PLANTS WERE DAMAGED BY A HERD OF COWS WHICH BROKE INTO THE NURSERY ON THE 16th JULY. WE HAVE NOW RE-STOCKED THE SALES AREA WITH SOME NEW VARIETIES AND ANYTHING WHICH WASN'T DAMAGED. TENDER PLANTS ARE UNAFFECTED.

(please ring for further details)

OPENING TIMES FOR 2007 - THESE MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE:

WEDNESDAYS to SUNDAYS from 10am to 5pm (or dusk if earlier) from EASTER to SEPTEMBER 30TH. Please ring us before visiting outside these times as we are often away from the nursery during the period October to February, doing garden projects.

DIRECTIONS:

The nursery is situated in the grounds of Shrubland Park. See map

From Junction 52 on the A14 (signed Claydon &  Gt. Blakenham), follow the road through the village of Claydon. Approx 1 mile from the centre of the village, there is a pub called the Sorrel Horse on the left.  (Look for our sign underneath the Pub Sign.) Turn right into the Park via the gate directly opposite the Sorrel Horse. Continue up the drive for 1/2 a mile and turn sharp right at the top of the hill, opposite the Hall (signposted).

Sat. Nav users should use the postcode of the nearby Sorrel Horse Pub:

IP6 0PG

Please drive with care through the park and adhere to the 20mph speed limit as the sheep are not perturbed by cars.

PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU:

  • wish to visit outside official opening times.

  • are travelling a long distance, especially if you are looking for a particular plant, or plants. We do not necessarily have all the plants listed in our catalogue at any one time, or they may not be out in our sales areas.

  • would like specialist advice about plants. This is just to check that the relevant member of staff will be around.

  • would like us to prepare a list of plants for a specific area, colour scheme etc.

  • are unsure how to find us.

  • are a wheelchair user - we can give you parking directions & make sure there is someone on hand to assist you if required. Most of the nursery is paved with the exception of the Walled Garden which has gravel paths. We have endeavoured to make the Nursery as Wheelchair friendly as possible. Please feel free to ring us for further details.

FACILITIES
We regret we do not have refreshment facilities but visitors are welcome to bring a packed lunch and make themselves at home in the seating area in the Glasshouse or, on a hot day, seek shade in the walled garden. Alternatively we can fully recommend the Sorrel Horse Pub which is situated opposite the main entrance into the Park.

(For pre-arranged group visits we are happy to lay on self-service tea/coffee/biscuits for a small charge.)

Please drive with care through the park and adhere to the 20mph speed limit as the sheep are not perturbed by cars! Please remain in your car until you reach the nursery. Although the Park does have public footpaths, the main drive is not one of them. We welcome dogs and children at the nursery as long as they are well behaved.
