Spreading succulent which makes a great drought tolerant specimen for a summer container. The leaves look like small green chips. Vivid pink daisies appear over the carpets of foliage in summer. Grow in loam based compost with added sand for drainage. Originating from South Africa, this plant is half hardy and will usually need to be moved to a greenhouse over winter.

Please be aware in milder coastal areas, particularly the south, parts of wales and the east coast of Ireland, another species - Carpobrotus edulis (Hottentot-Fig) has become invasive to the detriment of some of our native coastal plants. If you're at all concerned keep this one confined to a pot and the boundaries of your garden if you live in these areas

Unless otherwise indicated our plants are supplied in the following pot sizes according to category. Dimensions refer to either the pot diameter (cm) or volume (litre);

  • Exotics/Conservatory & House Plants, Succulents: mostly as young plants in 9cm or 1 litre pots
  • Hardy Perennials, Ferns and Grasses: 1 litre (approx 12cm diameter)
  • Herbs: 9cm
  • Hardy Shrubs and Climbers: 1.5 or 2 litre 
  • Potted Bulbs: variable- please see "Size/Qty" on product information page 
  • Dormant Bulbs, Tubers and Bare-root perennials come either bagged or wrapped without a pot

The exact size of plants will vary with the growing season and may be cut back in accordance with normal pruning regimes or to fit in the box if they are excessively tall
