Stout upright stems bear large yellow thistle flowers to 5 cm across from June to Sept. Very good for wildlife, attracting pollinating insects and birds such as Goldfinches which eat the seeds, so leave the seed heads, these are attractive in their own right. For fertile, well drained soil in full sun.
