An essential part of Thai and Asian cooking, this tropical grass can be grown outdoors in a sunny border or pot for the summer, but must be brought into a frost free well-lit spot for the winter. The leaves are used as flavouring in sweet and savoury dishes, and makes a nice tea. The main season of growth is summer but leaves can be cut and dried for use year-round.
