Hardy perennials are the mainstay of the herbaceous border, giving colour through the year for very litte effort and attracting bees and butterflies into the garden.
A dwarf variety sporting dense plumes of rose-pink fluffy flowers in late summer. Grow in moist soil or at the water's edge in sun to part shade. Will spread to form effective ground cover.
Long flowering variety with lovely soft pink flowers encased in pink bracts from June to September. Likes moisture retentive soil in sun to part shade.
Astrantia major 'Star of Royals'
This is a lovely variety with white flowers surrounded by pink-blushed bracts. It has a long flowering period from late spring well into summer and a compact habit. Ideal for a cool shady spot in the garden that isn't too dry. Copes well with heavy soils. Height 50cm
A cultivar with smaller oval leaves, topped with pink flowers in spring.

Campanula lactiflora 'Loddon Anna'
A tall perennial with soft lilac-pink, upward facing star-shaped flowers from June to September. Good cut flower. Attracts bees.
Campanula portenschlagiana 'Catharina'
A delightful little perennial with masses of violet-blue, upward facing, bell-shaped flowers.
