Hardy perennials are the mainstay of the herbaceous border, giving colour through the year for very litte effort and attracting bees and butterflies into the garden.
Catananche caerulea 'Alba'
An excellent plant for a dry, sunny border with papery white flower heads July to September. Grow in well drained soil in full sun. Good cut flower, attracts bees & butterflies.
Ground cover perennial related to Plumbago with very similar, brilliant blue flowers in late summer.
Chaerophyllum hirsutum 'Roseum'
A lovely low growing umbellifer bringing a fresh feel to the early summer border. Light pink airy umbels of flowers rise above mounds of finely cut leaves.
A hardy cultivar with double apricot flowers - starts flowering in August, going on into late autumn.
A compact cultivar covered in masses of peachy-pink fully double flowers in late autumn. Great for the front of a border, or in a pot.
Lovely, strong growing, hardy Chrysanthemum with semi-double buttermilk-yellow daisies with a striking green centre from October to November.
Single apricot-yellow daisies July-September. Looks stunning when back-lit by the late afternoon- early evening sun. Excellent cut flower. Attracts butterflies. Grow in well drained soil in full sun.
Reliably hardy cultivar flowering October to November with masses of deep apricot coloured small pom-pom flowers. For a sunny border in well-drained soil. Makes a lovely cut flower.
A compact, early flowering cultivar with sented, single soft-pink daisies to 3in across from July-September. Excellent, long lasting cut flower. Attracts butterflies. Grow in well drained soil in full sun. Hardy
A lovely variety with an abundance of pale yellow semi-double flowers in the autumn, into November. Nice nestling amongst grasses in a sunny border. Sun and well-drained soil.
