A very garden-worth cultivar of our native Holly, grown for its conspicuous variegation leaves, each spiny leaf has a broad margin of white to pale cream surrounding a lustrous green centre. A female, reliably producing a crop of bright red berries technically we should call them drupes, making a striking contrast with the foliage, ideal for those Christmas decorations, but do spare a few for the hungry blackbirds, fieldfares and redwings! Along with other members of the genus, it is the food plant of the Holly Blue Butterfly.
