A vigourous cultivar producing bright scarlet flowers are carried on stiff upright stems in summer. Monardas need soil that never gets to wet or dry - a mulch of well-rotted compost or leafmould is appreciated. Air circulation will reduce the occurrence of mildew, so avoid dense planting. This variety has fairly good resistance to mildew. The spent flowering stems have character - these can left on over the winter.
