Native to Mexico, this tuberous perennial is famed for its highly scented white flowers, used commercially as cut flowers and for perfume. To grow successfully in colder climates it needs a sunny site, with the tubers being planted in a frost free greenhouse in deep pots of free-draining compost. These can then be stood or plunged outdoors in a sunny spot for the summer where they will bloom and scent the garden. In the autumn, lift the pots and keep frost free fo the winter.
