Hardy perennials are the mainstay of the herbaceous border, giving colour through the year for very litte effort and attracting bees and butterflies into the garden.
Persicaria microcephala 'Red Dragon'
Striking foliage plant with pointed redish purple leaves with a paler V marking.
This low growing plant is ideal for dry, sandy, chalky or low fertility soil. Wiry stems with narrow leaves carry masses of tiny pink flowers in summer. Great for a rockery or alpine bed and very drought tolerant
A bold hardy perennial with mounds of hairy leaves topped by spikes of whorlerd pale yellow flowers summer to autumn. Leave the flower heads on for winter interest. Full sun, normal soil.
Phlox paniculata 'Blue Paradise'
A beautiful cultivar with fragrant pale blue flowers which deepen to violet with redder edges as they age. Mildew-resistant.
Green leaves with a white margin and spikes of deep pink flowers from June-August. The flowers hold their new position when moved around the stem, thus the common name. For reliably moist soil in sun/ part shade.
Single, bright-yellow flowers with a red centre in late summer. Ideal for softening the edge or filling gaps in the front of the border. Low growing/ trailing
An early flowering species, easy to grow in damp to boggy soil. Will take some sun if soil is moist. Pale lavender balls of small flowers appear on upright stems from April to June. May seed around, so ideal for a wild area.£6.00more info....
