Hardy perennials are the mainstay of the herbaceous border, giving colour through the year for very litte effort and attracting bees and butterflies into the garden.

The sword-shaped leaves add an architectural interest even when not in flower and also provide a perching place for emerging water born insects such as dragonflies. Height 90cm
A superb Iris for a water garden or bog garden. Velvety, deep purple flowers in late spring-early summer. Can also be grown in garden soil as long as it is reliably moist. Height 90cm
Clumps of leaves emerge stained purple at the base in spring, with tall stems carrying 3-4 flowers with violet-purple standards and falls. In May to June.1 litre pots.

Compact perennial with burgundy-red, pin cushion flowers from June-September. For well drained, preferably neutral to alkaline soil in full sun/ part shade. Attracts bees and butterflies.
