Grown for the beautiful foliage, makes a striking bedding plant.

WHERE TO SOW Sow the fine seeds thinly in trays of good compost under glass at 21°C. Seed should be either surface sown and not covered or these days sown with a light dusting of vermiculite.
WHAT TO DO NEXT When seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off individually into 5cm (2") pots. Grow until seedlings are about 10cm (4") tall, then transplant into 9cm (3½") pots. Good light levels encourage better colouration.
HANDY TIP To stop plants going leggy, and to encourage bushy growth, keep removing flowering spikes and cut back excessive growth.

The exact size of plants will vary with the growing season and may be cut back in accordance with normal pruning regimes or to fit in the box if they are excessively tall.
